Further evidence of my insane mapping skillz

(Alternate title for this post: When dorks and maps collide.) Below you will find what is probably the second-best map ever made. Harnessing the latest, most advanced computer simulation techniques and mapping technology, it realistically illustrates what an airstrike on the headquarters of a certain Florida newspaper would look like. What prompted me to create this chilling vision, you ask? Meet me below this picture and I’ll show you.
Behold this outrageous provocation from a certain “news technologist” who works at that certain newspaper pictured above.

That’s my office you see targeted for a LOL-strike! Specifically, that green pointer is on the exact latitude and longitude coordinates of my desk, which happen to be included in my e-mail signature. (So?) This dorky map war could escalate at any moment, so stay tuned.
(If you’re interested in how my awesome airstrike map was made, and please immediately pop down to the doctor’s office to have your brain examined if you are, I did it in Google Maps, exported it as KML, then imported the KML file to Live Maps/Virtual Earth for that little extra bit of awesome. Didn’t take but six or seven hours. You’re welcome.)

I just had a “Worms Armageddon” relapse with the airstrike and litle red arrow.

Before this gets out of hand and we both end up making permanent social outcasts of ourselves, I’ll declare a truce. Besides that, I don’t have time to make a cutout of one of the random pictures of your cat and make it a Godzilla like overlay on your subdivision. It would be fun, but my employer insists I work for my paycheck.
And, for anyone curious, I used a really cool little Mac app called Skitch that looks positively teenage girly but is freaking awesome at taking a screengrab and marking it up. I find myself doing that a lot now that I don’t work with paper anymore.

The “oh noes” makes this rich.
