Is Flickr onto something with the “long photo?”

Pfft, like I know. But four days ago I uploaded a 90-second clip of our cat Pokeweed sitting upright to both Flickr and YouTube. Not a whole lot going on there, just a strange clip of our strange cat behaving a little strangely. The YouTube version has been viewed 28 times. The Flickr version has been viewed 1,057 times, has been marked a favorite by 44 people and has attracted 20 comments. (And the embedded version looks great when the control bar disappears, nothing but the image.)
Maybe Flickr is just a particularly cat-friendly environment. Flickr users really do seem to like their cats, after all. Could just be that video is still a novelty there. Or maybe there really is something interesting to Flickr’s concept of less-than-90-second videos as “a long photo.”
No great revelations, just an observation. And an excuse, as if I needed one, to post yet another picture of my cat.
