Hops get sprayed with loads of pesticides and it takes a lot of power to produce glass bottles and aluminum cans. Still, I’ll wait for an equivalent appraisal of the environmental impact of 20-ounce plastic bottles of soda sweetened with high fructose corn syrup before I swear off beer. In fact, I think I’d rather tackle the 17-mile commute to work down Interstate 95 on my Schwinn Sting-Ray to offset the carbon footprint of a few cans of Duff on the weekend than give up the sudsy goodness of sweet, sweet beer.
