Another newspaper building: My office in Virtual Earth/Live Maps

I had so much fun wasting several hours looking up newspaper buildings in Google Maps Street View that I decided to do the same thing using the oblique imagery, or “bird’s eye view,” feature in Microsoft’s Virtual Earth/Live Maps. There are loads of cities with oblique imagery coverage in Live Maps, so I’ll probably make this a regular feature starting next week. For now, I’ll kick off with my office, The Palm Beach Post:

Live Maps also has bird’s eye view coverage of quite a few European cities, such as London, so feel free to share some of your favorite media buildings on the other side of the Atlantic.

Not to mention Palm Beach has also been modeled by Microsoft in full 3D, so you can literally fly around this building and thousands more here… http://tinyurl.com/39jvmz Check out the Breakers Hotel - my grandmother used to work there for many years and I had no idea what it was like. Now my whole family can visit it virtually and it looks so cool!

Wow, very cool. Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to spend a few hours flying around the virtual South Florida to see if there are any gems I’ve missed from the ground.
