Silly site registration stands in the way of breaking news

I just tried to check out the latest on the Minneapolis bridge collapse at StarTribune.com, only to smack up against this stupid screen asking whether I’m “a member of the StarTribune network.” No, I’m not a member of the StarTribune network. I don’t even know what it is. I just want to read about the massive story breaking in your backyard. To be fair, some features don’t seem to be directing users to the registration screen, which only makes the links that do all the more frustrating. Oh well, off to TwinCities.com from the Pioneer Press.
