Search string Q&A, in which I answer all the questions posed in your bizarre search engine referrals

I’ve always been amazed and entertained by some of the search strings that lead people to my web site, and I’ve lately noticed a few particularly interesting Google referrals based on questions. Clearly, the people of the world seek my wisdom on topics of great importance, so I will now provide answers to some of these questions posed by actual search engine users.

Question No. 1: “how is paris doing?”
Ah, I’m so glad you asked. I can only assume you mean Paris Hilton, not the rather less famous European city. She’s still locked up, obviously. But here’s something you may not have heard, unless you are a regular reader of this web site, or one of several million people around the globe who read it first in the Los Angeles Times: Paris doing hard time compared to similar offenders. And do have a look at this “Free Paris, Then Tibet” merchandise at CafePress. What better way to tell the world that you have your priorities straight?

Question No. 2: “how to make a good blog”
Pffttt. Like I know.

Question No. 3: “what in the computer that a journalist should learn”
I’ve deduced that what you’re really after are recommendations for computer skills that every journalist should have. Coincidentally, I’ve been thinking about a post along those lines, in which I would compile the thoughts of other, much smarter people on both that very topic and a few other, closely related matters. A natural follow-up to my previous posts asserting that some journalists need some programming skill, really. Unfortunately, it’s not ready. Stay tuned.
