I iz a mayjer hakker
Forget Python, I’m psyched about learning a totally new programming language: LOLCODE. (This comes via many places, but I think I first found it at Digg. Or maybe it was Cheezburger.)
No one I’ve shown this to in my real life has understood why it is so amazingly awesome, but I’m hoping it receives a more appropriately enthusiastic reception here in my blog life. (No offense, but you lot do tend to skew quite a bit geekier than average. (I’m looking at you, Linux- and FreeBSD-using site visitors.)
You’ll want to start with the good old “hello world,” of course. Or, in this case, “hai world.”
HAI
CAN HAS STDIO?
VISIBLE "HAI WORLD!"
KTHXBYE
As explained at LOLCODE, HAI and KTHXBYE are the start and stop block delimiters, CAN HAS is a feature request, and VISIBLE is a print statement. Makes perfect sense, no? Here’s another example:
ON CATURDAY
IM IN YR BED
I IZ SLEEPIN!!10
VISIBLE "Z!"
KTHX
KTHXBYE
I think we all can agree that this is an incredibly elegant, perfectly sensible programming language. Don’t know what the hell I’m talking about? OMGWTFBBQ! Get yesterday! Where have you been? Obviously not on the Interwebnet. Check out the brief description of lolcats at Wikipedia.
