Excellent exciting number one awesome news!

Not only is today my birthday (29 … I have my eye on you, 30, and I don’t like what I see), it also is the day that my wife and I unveil her new web site: kpchapman.com.
It’s a place where she can share some of the great, and often weird, stories she runs across as a newspaper reporter in South Florida. What kind of stories? How about a child abuse investigator who asked a mother he was investigating for a lap dance? Violent teens locked up in rooms painted pink? People lining up for post-hurricane disaster food stamps in Land Rovers and Hummers?
The site is strictly an online portfolio, and Kathleen won’t be blogging in the traditional sense. Unlike me, she seems to think that the stories should speak for themselves. So, no unsolicited opinions about video games, our cats and general geekery will be offered at kpchapman.com. That’s my department. What you will find is something that we sure as hell better not forget about in our race to find a future for the newspaper business: Honest to goodness, balls to the wall, kick ass, capital-J journalism.
In other news, I’ll be consolidating my work and personal blogs, and making the inevitable switch to WordPress, this weekend. Check back at wmhartnett.com next week to see whether I actually did so, or succumbed to smoke from Florida’s wildfires instead. (And here it is.)
