Ohio State salvages my bracket
By William M. Hartnett on Mar 17, 2007 in sports
Brilliant game by Ohio State and Xavier, and all the more exciting because I have the Buckeyes meeting Florida in the final of my bracket. I probably don’t need to continue explaining that my selection method is ill-informed, at best, though it appears as though I just did.
My reasoning for picking Ohio State to make it to the final, then? I have no particular affection for at least certain parts of the great state of Ohio, I just want to see Ohio State lose another national championship to Florida.
Bonus trivia: Ohio’s uniquely shaped state flag, a swallowtail burgee, is rich in symbolism. Its obviously deficient shape, for example, represents the incredibly meager budget its designer, John Eisemann, was given. True story, though Ohio natives probably have never heard it, on account of the state’s famously under-performing schools and universities.
