Hartnett’s first round performance
By William M. Hartnett on Mar 17, 2007 in sports
Florida’s 43-point win capped a first round in which both my ignorance-based bracket selection scheme and my irrational dislike of Brady Quinn were rewarded with what I imagine is a fairly average 25-7 record.
(I should have mentioned earlier that I’m using The New York Times’ interactive bracket, which I stumbled across last week.)
As I guessed, my bold strategy of placing Villanova in the Final Four merely because I liked the way “Villanova” rolls off the tongue turned out to have been at least partially ill-advised. So, too, was my forecast of a Georgia Tech upset of UNLV based on my estimation that Atlanta is at least an 80 percent more esteemable city than Las Vegas.
