Why I hate Volkswagen

Speaking of consumer complaints that get me incredibly worked up, to the point that I begin fantasizing about hunting down all the industrial engineers and software designers whose moronic decisions have inconvenienced me so that I can repeatedly punch them in the neck … behold the picture at right.

That’s the handle to the glove compartment of my 2001 Volkswagen Jetta resting there atop the dashboard in one large and two small pieces. What’s it doing there, instead of in its expected place attached to the actual glove box? Good question! It’s there because the Volkswagen engineers who designed my car are cocks.

Their similarly shoddy work on the compartment in the center armrest resulted in a latch that first broke a mere two months after I bought my car, new, back in May 2001. So, in conclusion: Volkswagen engineers, at least those who designed the various handles and latches inside the 2001 Jetta, are cocks.

Oh, I’ve had all the usual Volkswagen nonsense, too: Window regulator failure, non-stop mass airflow sensor problems, etc. The worst part of all was how terrible their warranty was back when I bought my Jetta in 2001: Two years or 24,000 miles. I’ve had three separate conversations in VW dealership service departments with people who planned to make their next car a Kia just for the 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

I have had nothing but problems with my 99 beetle, brake problems, the oil light constantly goes off even when there is enough oil, the engine light going off with no problem to be found. The drivers window getting stuck down in the door, which happened to 3 other people with the same car and same model year, in addition to a brake call back. Now the latest where our mechanic says the transmission needs to be replaced, but when we take it to the dealer, because it is 99,000 miles, and we have warranty till 100,000 but they seem to find no problem with the transmission and now we are torn weather they are just trying to cheat us out of replacing it.
