No, you can’t use Access

Judging by the number of diggs and the fact that it’s a month old, you may have seen this already: Top 10 Largest Databases in the World. Doesn’t look like a particularly authoritative list, as the comments suggest, but still pretty cool. Six petabytes of data ain’t messing around.
Incidentally, I stumbled across the list via this Juice Analytics post about the “$80 Million Super-Mugging” of New York City public schools, which itself is a worthy read. (More here.) If IBM tries to sell you an $80 million (air quotes with me, please) supercomputer for your newspaper’s CAR needs, please be wary. If might be overkill.
