USAToday.com: Haven’t seen it
By William M. Hartnett on Mar 4, 2007 in newspapers
People are talking about the debut of the redesigned USAToday.com. I’m not, because I haven’t been to USAToday.com since the World Cup last summer, when, instead of working, I checked in on their match live-blogging. (It was OK. The NYT’s was better. The Guardian’s, not surprisingly, was better still.)
I’m no USA Today hater. I read it in print enthusiastically at hotels, airports, McDonald’s, etc. It was one of four newspapers my dad bought regularly, if not daily, for a period in the early to mid-1990s. (The others were Bradenton, Sarasota and St. Pete.) And I enthusiastically follow their excellent CAR work. But I don’t read it online. My reading and viewing time is booked solid already. Am I missing something? Is this my American Idol problem all over again?
