New area code might be a lucky break

By WILLIAM M. HARTNETT

Cosmic forces point to a fortuitous future for the Treasure Coast under its new area code, 772.

So says James Tucker – numerologist, mystic oracle, master psychic, palmist, reader and healer and Jensen Beach resident.

The new area code could begin replacing 561 in calls to Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties by early next year, with mandatory use coming nine to 10 months later. Though the change might prove a logistical hassle, Tucker said the area will prosper in the end because 772 is “a very lucky” combination.

“It should bring balance, healing, justice, creativity and prosperity to the Treasure Coast,” he said.

What’s more, Tucker said, the number “2″ adds extra luck to the equation because its “feminine influence” will “give balance to the strong male will.”

Ah, but we sense skepticism toward the new code’s awesome cosmic potential. Well, naysayers, just consider the following: 7+7+2=16, and 1+6=7. Spooky, isn’t it?

“Since time immemorial, 7 has been considered the lucky number,” Tucker said. “So we have 7, 7, which is like luck doubled.”

Or how about this: Since Jan. 1, 1995, the bouncing balls of the Florida Lottery’s Cash 3 game have come up with a winning combination of 772 three times. The most recent case was just five months ago. Of course, there have been more than 2,000 drawings during that period, so, you know, play at your own risk.

Luck is fine, of course, but you can’t do much from a marketing perspective with the lame letters assigned to 7 and 2 on the telephone dial. But feel free to try. Seven represents P, Q, R or S. Two represents A, B or C. Beyond SPA, the promotional implications of which remain unclear, the possibilities are bleak.

Volusia County recently scored big time in this respect when it landed 386 as its new code. As tourism officials there are sure to remind you, 3-8-6 equals F-U-N.
